The last 3 days have been a mixture of the surreal, the awesome and the terrifying...
On monday, whilst listening to RATM very loudly in my room, I decided it would be a good idea to go out in Reading with some friends because I fancied going to the Purple Turtle. Got a lift with Livvi & Jess at 10ish, met up with a few friends in PAV'S that I havent seen really since college, and had a nice catch-up. Then headed off to Purple Turtle, college friends disappeared off somewhere, so it was just us and then some unsavoury characters showed up. In the line for Pavs, about 5 wannabe 'gangsters' were harrassing us, and touching Jess up, so we were relieved to get in. However, when we got to the PT we were not relieved to discover they had followed us, like literally waited outside Pavs and trailed us. Lots of gross touching up ensued, so we jacked in turtle and went to Sakura. Talked to the barmen on the way in, got them barred from Sakura by an amazing mate of Matts who refused to let them in.
From that point onwards it turned out to be a really good night, as we bumped into about 10 people that we knew from school, and got very drunk and danced and had a thoroughly lovely time. But boy, do they keep the heating up in Sakura, it was unbelievably hot! We left at about 4, and I got to bed at 5, only to get up at 8!
The next day (tuesday) I got my very hungover self over to Henley at 11 for a photoshoot I was helping Dan out with. Basically involved dressing in some very smart clothes and posing infront of a fax machine, which I enjoyed thoroughly and have now developed a like for wearing powerful clothing! Was absolutely exhausted, went to bed at 11...only to get woken up at 6am by my dad shouting "CALL AN AMBULANCE NOW PLEASE"...
Now, bearing in mind I was shattered, I was completely delirious and had no idea what he was talking about. It was only when I went into the bathroom and saw the sink FULL with blood that it finally clicked that I should call 999. Was unbelievably scary, blood was hosing out of my Dad's nose, it was obvious this wasn't a normal nose bleed, and there were just pints of blood everywhere. The ambulance arrived within 2 minutes (very impressive) and they were great but one of the crew members fainted because it was so hot and there was so much blood, so they had to send for another ambulance. We got to A&E, and they literally couldn't get the bleeding to stop. Then he started going very pale, so we went upstairs to a specialist who realised that he had actually torn an Artery close to his nose, so it needed to be quaterized. They managed to get in under control, but they kept him in all day because he lost so much blood, like over a 1/3 of what was in his body from the most epic nosebleed ever.
I suppose it is alright now that I know he is okay, but my dad is in terrible health anyway, with a chronic heart condition with a limited life expectancy, and I guess seeing all of the blood today made me realise that at some point, possibly in the near future, I will probably see him die.
Food for thought, mm...
